A funny page about renting a car from Thrifty at O’hare airport. This is who we used this year and we did receive good service, especially as I was allowed to drive, but the comment about the ridge in the road is very true (and a daft idea)

The 2003 Blogging Survey results are in and make interesting reading even if they do focus on advertising a tad too much. I’ve posted a comment on the page too.
I can never find the phone number for Chopstix in Congleton which is 01260 272006/280636. If you are ever in the area and fancy a great Chinese meal then you won’t go wrong. There is a long wait at the weekend though as they are extremely popular and you often have to wait longer than they say to pick your food up. I reckon they should use an SMS method to communicate to people that the meal is ready – would save hanging around and trying to find somewhere to park nearby.
As mentioned in the previous post, I had to return my Toshiba laptop for repair yesterday. The mouse has been going haywire and after being told to install the mouse drivers from the Recovery CD (of all the weird places to put drivers – personally I would have put them on the Utility and Drivers CD) and not finding it on either of the supplied cd’s I rang back up and was told they would come and collect it. Didn’t bother telling me how long it would be before I’d get it back though (and I didn’t want to depress myself by asking). Their website says that its a hardware fault so fortunately there was no arguing needed to persuade them to fix it. Shame there was no on-site warrenty purchased though.
Incidentally the nipple mouse is more politically referred to as an Accupoint mouse.
NFO has a quick article about building a Network Monitoring Centre, although he calls it a NOC (operating/Monitoring) including EtherApe which draws a pretty picture of network traffic. I’ll be trying that when the laptop gets back from it’s repair.
Found a new blog, Noded where the author has a similar sense of humour to me.
I think its time for a new motherboard and bits for the main pc. I can’t even get the stupid thing to boot off a w2k or XP cd. As soon as it switches the screen after the “Press F6 if you have loads of money and own a scsi card” the thing reboots….I’m beginning to wonder if the graphic card is stuffed……
Yes it didn’t take long for these to start doing the rounds. Suprisingly I’ve not seen many of these on web pages so here’s one I thought was good and a quick search in Google doesn’t provide the answer….
What were Saddam’s first words when they found him?
Microsoft sent me an email the other day saying that their Software Update Services beta program has been delayed and the *plan* won’t be finalized until January 2004. So goodness knows when it’s actually going to commence. At least this way they won’t need to worry about supporting Win98 (which they didn’t in the previous version either – but now they have a REAL excuse not to)
