I’ve been using Awasu a bit more recently. I tend to keep (or rather have to switch) to the Unread Posts filter option so that it only displays all posts I’ve not read yet. Its a bit annoying that you have to click on the sitefeed on the left, pane and then scroll down the top right pain to view the contents of the feed.
However, if you’ve then read the feed on the right hand side, you have to select it on the left hand side, right click, select mark all asread, it disappears from the left hand screen, but the corresponding data in the right hand panes are still there, which means another click in the left hand pane to select the next feed. With me? Sounds complicated and thats why a mark all as read and move to next feed would be a nice button/hotkey combo.
It has a good blackout option that means the software will not update during a specified time. Its suggested that you dont update during the hours you are not at work, but update during the day. However, for me I have the opposite – I don’t update during the day (apart from lunch time) but I do update in the evenings. This means I am not downloading web pages whilst at work. However, sometimes I am at work during the day and therefore I *can* update the pages, but I have to remove the black out period. An option to have 2 (or more) blackout choices you can switch to would be good. (And an option to update all feeds on demand (as long as its not more often than the hour specified by the personal edition)).

G’day. Me again 🙂
You can customize your hotkeys via the Tools, Customize dialog, in the Keyboard tab. IIRC, F10 is mapped by default to open the next channel in My Channels. Mark-all-as-read-and-move-to-the-next-feed will still be two keypresses but that’s probably not so bad 🙂
WRT switchable blackout periods, that probably won’t be a feature many people use but if you can script a bit, it’s easy to work-around. The settings are stored in the “BlackoutTimes” key in CONFIG.INI so I would write a little script (e.g. in Python) that set that key to the appropriate values and spawned Awasu. Two shortcuts on your desktop, one for each set of blackout times you want and then just use the one you want as appropriate.
Thanks – I assigned Ctrl-Q to Edit-Mark all as Read, and F10 moves to the next channel, but if I’m in the “show unread items only” view, when I Ctrl-Q, the current feed disappears and focus moves to the next feed, but the content pane is not updated. If I then press F10 I move down to the next feed, skipping the one I am now currently on BUT it also updates the content……
So what I need is to leave it on New content filter, and press F10 to navigate, with a Ctrl-Q to read all
I’ll try the editing of the ini file soon…

Yeah, that behaviour is a little annoying but I haven’t figured out a way to make it work well with all filters.
I usually have the New Content filter on all the time so what I do is open a feed, read it, mark all as read and then close the window. Doing this switches focus back to My Channels which will be positioned at the next channel. You can then just press SPACE or ENTER to open it.
