I was going to get some tickets to see Phantom of the Opera Tickets at Ohio Theatre but when I saw that they were $215 each I thought better of it. Can’t believe they are so expensive!
Went to see Cats at the Regent theatre in Stoke last night. I can’t comment on how good the performance was compared to other shows as it was the first time I’ve ever seen Cats. I was very impressed and really enjoyed the show – the costumes were really good and the hydraulic platform at the end of the show was good too. I did feel sorry for the people in the front row though as the smoke that hid the platform ramp billowed off the stage and right into their faces. Incidentally my father was one of the engineers who worked on the original platform at Cats in London.
We had a very enjoyable night out at the the Blues Brothers tribute at the Regent Theatre in Hanley last night. There was a fair amount of swearing/rude gestures which I was suprised about – it would probably have been a 15 if it was a film, but there were lots of kids in the audience, most of them dressed up in the Blues Brothers gear as were quite a few of the adults. It was a bit weird at the end of the show standing in the loo being surrounded by lots of Jakes and Elwood’s. We had box seats which gave us a good view – I wish we were allowed to take cameras in, although we ended up with an aching back as you had to lean forward to avoid having the edge of the box blocking some of the view. I have never seen a live Blues Brother show before, I’ve only just recently seen the video, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. It wasn’t done as a story really, more like a BB karaoke but with extremely talented musicians and singers.
I won tickets to go see 1984 at the local theatre – closing date Saturday so I need to know when Kristen is free in the evenings this week! AND i hope to go see TheBandWithNoName on Friday night as I enjoyed the last gig I went to…I think they are a bit like a christian version of the Beastie Boys, so that should be quite interesting.
