For once BT have done something right – I’m online using BTOpenzone this evening and because they are doing a promotion this week I get access for free (normally £15 for 24 hours (or 2 hours in a month for £10) which is expensive, and more than the hotel last night was. The weird thing is that I signed up for an account with my chosen username and password and THEN I saw the link to wireless broadband week (but no clue that this would give me free access until I clicked the link out of curiosity)
UpdateThe link for free wifi access for a week
Whats the point in having wireless at the hotel if its unavailable in the bedrooms?
My GPS is broken – I turned the gps back on when leaving my parents I got the message that there was no map loaded in the gps, initiating upload – no idea how it’s done it, why its done it or how I’m going to fix it!
I’m sitting in the hotel lounge at the moment typing this blog entry thanks to ukexplorer’s wifi link to the internet. Although it’s a tad expensive its fast (much better than dialup) and means i log my geocaches finds, pick my email up and check the news feeds. Kristen if you are reading this – fire up msn please 🙂
For some reason outlook 2003 decided that the email from one of our servers sent after the backup completed successfully was spam. The email is practically identical to the one it sends every other night, but last nights one was spam weirdly enough!
From Stewed Tea comes a couple of links which I thought Kristen should put on her blog as she’s suffering from a flu which led to an ear infection which led to vertigo problems. So we have the , Flu eme
My answers below:-
1) Has the ‘flu caught you this winter If so, when? Not yet for me thankfully.
2) How many people at home/work d’you know who’ve had the ‘flu? 1 at home, 2 at work so far
3) How many days have you/they been off sick (on average)? The week for Kristen, two days at work.
4) Worst symptom? Ear infection and vertigo
5) What did you/they do while off sick that you/they wouldn’t normally do, in an attempt to stave off boredom/cheer yourself up? eg what daytime TV programmes did you watch? Play Ratchet and Clank I think 🙂
Theres also this domain which would be related to Kristens blog too, www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.com
Will asked me about this Administrator Information About the Outlook E-mail Security Update article on Microsoft’s Knowledge base. I’d never heard of this functionality within outlook – I’ve seen the effects of installing sp1 on office, which gives a similar dialog box, but not heard about it being centrally controlled. One for the memory I think!
A stupid woman got arrested at the airport for joking about having a bomb in her luggage. Has she been asleep for the past week? The news about the british woman arrested in Miami (I think) for doing the same thing has been in the news all this week so you would have thought someone wouldn’t have done the same thing less than a week later.
Apparently the police are threatening to release CCTV footage of people in the area of where someone was murdered. Apparently people should be ashamed if they’ve not come forward as witnesses…I’m not a lawyer but this does seem to be an invasion of privacy and I’m guessing it breaks the Data Protection rules (although theres probably a police get-out clause) as they are publishing details on people NOT related to the crime but just happened to be in the area.
