By saving and running the linked reg file you can search this blog by typing abso keyword into the address bar of your pc and the keyword(s) will be plugged into the search engine. I thought of doing this after needing to search to see if I’d blogged about Outclass before – it turns out I had.
Code required is
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchUrl\abso]
” “=”+”
“#”=”%23”
“&”=”%26”
“?”=”%3F”

That’s cool. How long has IE had that feature? I use Mozilla and it’s really easy to do it there.
1. Create a bookmark to: https://www.absoblogginlutely.net/cgi-bin/mt/mt-search.cgi?IncludeBlogs=2&search=%s&SearchElement=both
2. Set “keyword” field to “abso”
I use that for everything. There’s nothing like typing “goog keyword” to start your day 😉
Oh, I’ve been aware of that feature in IE for a while. Of course, you could create a MyCroft plugin for your blog to integrate with Firebird – Asa has one on his blog that you can adapt: http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/asa/ .
its been around since version 5 of ie, http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/previous/webaccess/default.asp as an addon and was added to the tweakui interface in July 03.
I use gw,gg,gn for google web, groups and news respectively. The advantage of using them in this format is that it works with whatever your default browser is (if you use the address bar in your taskbar then it will still work with Firebird)) and by exporting the reg key it is very easy to update any machine you use (or roll out corporately as a login script)
Oh, well, I think I just upgraded to version 5 of IE before I decided that Mozilla was stable enough to use.
I’m away right now on a borrowed laptop, and not having my mozilla bugs the hell out of me. Tabbed browsers are a MUST!
added the missing line to the file that should have been there!
