blogspot to rss

Thanks to Neil’s suggestion and finally getting round to implementing it, I’ve got my blogspot to rss converter working. Taking the source code from a mirror of voidstar’s rssify and changing rss:item to blogPost and changing the span to div, I can now read blogspot web pages in my rss reader….and this will be easily adaptable to other web pages too. Now all Ihave to do is find those blogspot pages I’ve been meaning to keep an eye out on.

FWDCellular pays up….almost

Finally got my cheque from FWDCellular for my years rent on the T-Mobile sim that I purchased for them. The deal was(and is) that I paid the first years rental up front and after the first bill they sent me a cheque within 28 days….or so it should have been. After almost two months I sent them a snotty letter threatening them with the small claims/trading standards/credit card clawback if they did not pay by the end of the week (tomorrow). Today the cheque arrived, but either them or T-mobile have been a bit sneaky. It looks like T-Mobile bill from the 21st of the month and my phone was activated on the 23rd. Therefore I get billed for the period from 23rd to the 21st then the period for a year. Needless to say I only get the cash back for the year’s period….so I’m out by ten quid 🙁

UK passports renewal?

The Beeb are reporting that America is planning to insist on people having biometric passports to enter under the visa waiver program and as usual in this country there is no way that the Passport agency will be able to produce this information in passports by the deadline (let alone handling the hundreds thousands of passport applications they will receive). It will be a nice little money earner for the government though and an extra step towards the national ID card scheme so I doubt they will complain too much. Apparently they are “lobbying hard” to get america to extend the time limit.

Wifi at a drivethrough?

Apparently BT are teaming up with McDonalds to offer WIFI at the drivethrough. Now I thought you got into enough trouble eating at the wheel, let alone operating a laptop or handheld at the same time….and as for the wardrivers, how interested are they going to be in the number of BigMacs being ordered at that present moment – mind you, hacking the wireless network could produce some fun food orders and who knows, you might even get what you ordered!
