Courtesy of Lockergnome, this utility lets you see the passwords saved in IE’s autocomplete and outlook express for the currently logged on user. For shared access pc’s this could be very interesting! Definately one to go in my techsupport folder on my USBDrive
I’ve edited out the K3 posts just in case someone says something :-). Was at work yesterday and we had three calls during the whole day. One was from a company that had asked me to dial in and change the ip address on their server (why they couldn’t do it themselves I don’t know) but had unplugged the power to the modem AND changed the phone number…not sure how they expected us to dial in though!
I was trying to find the right click menu option in IE that allows me to view all linked images from a webpage in another window – saves opening each image individually. Quick google search later and I find the option again so I could install it on my work pc. You may want to use it yourself – its good for album shots etc and is available from dheb
Happy Christmas everybody! This will be it from me today as I have family stuff to do.
Marc Mailing List Archives is a good archive of techie mailing lists – well worth bookmarking!
Not that I’m going to encourage piracy, but the new sneaky method of bands that are logging what tracks you listen to on their cd’s just makes you want to download the mp3 versions so you don’t get this bandware software installed on your pc! More details
I was trying to find some software to capture audio streams so I could listen to Maurice offline. Somehow in the process of downloading streaming audio my webpage started to download some software. Thinking it was streaming audio I stupidly (it was 6.30 in the morning and I am still half asleep) clicked ok and it installed 0190 dialer. This is one of those dodgy internet porn dialers which trys to dial a premium rate phone number. Thankfully it would be no use on this computer as the phone line is no longer plugged in due to ADSL. Neither Nortons or Lavasoft Ad-aware found anything wrong but a quick search on google found the uninstall file from 0190-dialer (the makers of the thing in the first place. I am not happy that Nortons allowed it on the machine – i’m investigating this now.
Not only do they have Terry Pratchett, they also have The Amazing Maurice & His Educated Rodents and with a bit of intelligence you can listen to the lot!
BBC7 are airing Terry Pratchett audio at 6pm-6.30 and midnight-00:30 every night (and have been for a week or so). Why they have to do it at a time we’re having tea or fast asleep I have no idea. The annoying thing is that i’ve not worked out how to get MusicMatch to record the streaming audio to disk so I can listen to it at a more convenient time
Christmas in Luton is NOT a good idea. I was there on work yesterday and the place stinks even more than it did a week ago! I arrived early hoping to park in the carpark directly opposite our customer. However it was shut. I think they had a power cut or something as all the lights were out and the barriers were not working, but they only seemed to be doing work on getting the barriers fixed (maybe they turned off the power whilst trying to fix the barrier). Anyway as a result of this we (me and a million other people) had to queue up to use the remaining carpark.NIGHTMARE! 20 minutes later I was parked and walked to the company…..Fast forward a couple of hours until 4pm when I was on my way home. The queue to get out of the carpark was horrendous. 40 minutes it took to get the 1/4 mile out of the carpark and onto the main road. The problem was that by now 3 million people were trying to get INTO the carpark and were so impatient that they were blocking the junctions of the road stopping people getting OUT of the carpark! and to think that I have to be there again on the 2nd January…….
