Just finished watching disk2 of

Just finished watching disk2 of 24 – a brilliant series, although it does have several logical flaws in it. The funny thing is that it is meant to be filmed in “real time” but there are a lot of gaps where nothing seems to happen to anyone. That and a whole hours episode only takes 40 minutes as there are spaces for 20 minutes of commercials – that seems to be a lot of adverts for an hours tv programming. Still I’m not complaining as I don’t get the ads on DVD 🙂 They are also starting to film a second series soon – should be good!

China are allegedly blocking access to Google! don’t know how I’d survive without google :-). This is mainly to do with the fact that the Chinese goverment want to control the parts of the internet their citizens can access, and Google blasts a big hole in this control.

Basil wrote to Feeny yesterday – and got his question published!

300 photo’s taken by 30 people over the space of September. The photos up for today are really neat!

Blogger is down tonight – and I’ve got 4 items I want to post! At
least bloggar allows you to save the text ready to post online when
the server gets back (someone has forgotten to check the log files
which have filled the hard disk! sounds like someone needs to attend
one of my sysadmin courses! (Doing 2 this week!)

Started reading (and finished) “A Planet called Treason@ by Orson Scott Card today. An excellent Sci-Fi book about a man usurped from his position of heir to the throne and his subsequent quest to fulfill his fathers wishes and gain his position as heir/king back again. Well worth the read – only about 5 hours or so (290odd pages).
Interesting thing that the Pan version is still 1.50 on Amazon although its out of stock/print but the Dell version of the book is 7.82 onAmazon and also out of stock/print. I’m not sure how you can have two books with wildly varying prices available but out of stock! (I think the prices refer to the list price of the book when it was published in 1979!

Went 10 pin bowling tonight

Went 10 pin bowling tonight with the gang from church. Had a great time – beat Kristen by 1 on the first game with a lousy 90+ points (shame) but won the second game with a storming come back and my best ever score of 141! (very pleased!)
Then went to Arbuckles and had a superb meal with loads of icecream for pudding and a hilarious joke about a chinese fruit, a disease, a four legged animal and a t-shirt.

Amazon has a feature called

Amazon has a feature called “The Page You Made”. I can’t link to it as it is unique to each person. Basically its a neat utility that tracks the books (or whatever) that you are looking at and then at the end of your search it will provide you with the list of books you looked at (like the history function) and also related books. Clever marketing in that it exposes you to other products, but should also be helpful in ensuring that you don’t lose that book that you were looking at 10 minutes ago! It looks like the page is valid for the existing session though – so if you close the web browser down you lose your history! Update This ability is available once you have logged in though. Look for the end of “Your Recent History”
