Consumer Church

Back in November I wrote the first of an occasional series entitled 'What on earth is the Church?' I now intend to continue that series at the rate of around one post per week, starting next week. Until then, I thought it may be useful to share this short video. Of course, it exaggerates for effect, but it may be nearer to the root attitudes of some Christians than we would like to admit.

It is a humorous, but incisive parody of the attitude of many Western Christians today toward choosing a church, meeting with the people of God, and what we expect from it.

What is church for? Who is it for? Why do we meet?

Perhaps if we asked these questions with greater seriousness, we would wince less at what follows.

We are currently taking a serious look at this same subject, Danny. You can hear our deliberations, focusing on Acts 2:42 on the audio@Bethel page at www.bethel-otley.co.uk.

Music? You mean people have music demands and preferences that affect their view of church as well?

*slaps hand to head in disbelief*

Grin - but what about the music ;-)

Hmmm. Try it now. I am seeing it here in my study and also at the house of a friend - not at the same time obviously :)

Reload the page a couple of times if not... that might work! Otherwise, comment again, and I will put up the external link for you to follow.

Regards to Tina!
