Baptising Service - December 2006

Praise God for his goodness!

If you were able to share with us in Sunday's Baptising Service, you will know already what a joy it was to meet together. Not only did we have a very full school hall with many visitors and friends, but we were able to hear together of the goodness of God in the lives of 6 very different people. We love our diversity!

Now that I have finally remembered how to upload photographs to the blog, you can see for yourself a glimpse of what went on. The only person missing from this montage is Barry, as the photograph didn't take!

If you have a digital photograph of him being baptised, or could scan one, please send it to me so that I can upload it here. Once the DVD of the service is available, we will seek to upload it in sections to YouTube.com & link to it here so you can watch it online.

Every baptism is very special and is a useful reminder to us of what Christ has done on our behalf. In addition to portraying truth very graphically, it can be very powerful for those who do not yet believe. Please pray for the ongoing impact that this service will have for all who were present.

It is a timely reminder to all of us that not only do we have a God who saves needy sinners, but also that we who belong to Christ have great responsibilties matched to our great privileges. Not only are we united to Christ and identified with him in baptism, but we are declaring our determined unity with the living Church of Jesus Christ.

We who are baptised are to strive to be holy, work hard at being a meaningful part of the Christian community at WHBC, and be active in Christian service. We want to be a growing and biblical New Testament Church! Please pray for our friends as they seek to take seriously that privileged commitment.

Sunday was, of course, very special to me as a father in pastoral ministry, and if you would like to read my more personal account of that then either follow our Family Blogspot link on the sidebar, or follow this link.
