Poetry 201

In case the last poetic offering caused offence, I throw out this olive branch - it too was written more than 12 years ago, but as a product of relative youth, was intended to counterbalance the previous piece (same tongue in place).

Some Christians have a firm defence
For every new irrelevance;
Like why we all should speak in tongues
To move up Heaven's brightest rungs.

Some questions are perennial,
Like "Am I Amillennial?"
Or have I heard the latest news
Of what has happened with the Jews?

Some other brethren criticise
The form we use when we baptise;
And if we have a band or choir,
They sense, or smell, infernal fire.

Most sad, perhaps, and legalistic,
Is "Am I 5 point Calvinistic?"
Or if I am, and won't be moved,
My obstinacy has been proved.

Why is it that we must incite
Disharmony and not unite?
Of course, we must not compromise,
But must we therefore, patronise?

Youthful musings, perhaps.

I like the way you use your rhyme,
Your juxstaposed iambic lines;
The serious and clever wit
And the fact it makes me look a twit
