Helpful little article here on the call to ministry by Al Mohler, but although he rightly identifies that a valid call to ministry is both subjective (internal) and collective (congregational), he says nothing about the objective call: God endorsing the call by his seal of approval - either in conversions, or in palpable growth in grace for those who already believe. It may even mean much rejection, but there will be something plainly of God in the man's ministry.
Without something of that divine imperative, you can feel all you like and be pushed to service by a willing church, but it may mean little - too many keen men and polite churches have erred by assuming something God does not himself endorse.
